Six-hundred-and-twenty youngsters will converge for the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup.
“A lot of people who’ve come in previous years tend to use this a little bit as the family holiday,” the Cup’s Bert Bargeus said.
“It’s the right time of the year, it’s a great location to visit, as well as play basketball.”
Sixty-two teams will contest the six-day event, which starts on Monday.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre from 10am, with matches to follow at three Border venues.
The finals will be at the sport’s headquarters in Albury on Saturday, January 21.
More than 1500 people are expected to attend.
The event continues the Border’s reputation as the home of junior sport in January, with tennis and cricket also attracting hundreds of competitors, during the school holidays.
