The NSW Education Standards Authority released new syllabuses on Tuesday which include changes to HSC English, maths, science and history.
All year 12 students will have to study grammar and dramatically improve their writing skills as part of the most significant changes to the state's HSC in decades.
While the Education Standards Authority may not think our students are up to scratch, how do the rest of us measure up?
Try your hand at our grammar and spelling quiz and see how you go.
The new syllabus will be introduced next year for students undertaking the HSC in 2019.
