Area manager Ryan McNamara hoped to smash last year’s $9000 total at the sixth event on Sunday.
“The swimming component is at 11am with a range of staff members who are ex-champion and triathlon swimmers and people like myself who are very much amateurs,” he said.
“We’re doing individual fundraising and on the day we’ll be having a mega aqua-aerobics class, a bubble station, a jumping castle and all sorts of fun events.”
Mr McNamara said the statewide Swimathon theme of promoting inclusion for swimmers of all abilities filtered down to the local level.
“The classes for Belvoir focused on swimming and safety and teachers reported on the benefits and the confidence students get,” he said.
The YMCA Swimathon will be held at the Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre from 11am Sunday – family entries will cost $10.
