Chief steward John Davidson and his deputy Jason Schultz travelled to Albury from Wagga on Wednesday for the traditional Gold Cup barrier draw at the Commercial Club.
They originally planned to inspect the track as part of the trip, but delayed it 24 hours due to persistent morning rain which took the weekly rainfall total above 50mm.
The track is presently rated a heavy 10 and the worse case scenario is more heavy rain on Thursday.
"I don't think there is any doubt the races will be going ahead," Davidson said.
"We are in the hands of the Gods with what the weather does and how the track will come up.
"We will walk it and then give the club our advice to what we believe the rating is and industry participants will have that advice after lunch tomorrow."
