A high-range drink driver came to police attention early Sunday morning after getting his car stuck in a garden bed.
The man was caught by police on Hume Street about 1.05am and failed a roadside breath test.
He was taken back to the Albury police station and returned a reading of 0.168.
He was charged with high-range drink driving and will face court at a later date.
It followed an incident at 12.15am where a vehicle ran off the side of Urana Road, Lavington, and hit a table drain.
Sergeant Matt Zemaitis said the 26-year-old man returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.109 after the incident.
“He has been charged with mid-range (drink driving) and has had his licence suspended,” he said.
“Our traffic operation is ongoing until midnight on Anzac Day.
“Those looking to have a few drinks on Anzac Day need to make sure they have got a plan B.
“We will be out in force on all the main roads and back roads.
“We will be conducting stationary and roadside breath testing.”
Double demerit points are also being enforced as part of the operation, which is running alongside a similar operation in Victoria.
Sergeant Zemaitis said the double demerit points applied to speeding, phone use, motorbike helmets and seatbelt offences.
“We will continue to ask drivers of the next few days, while double demerits are in force, to watch their speed, plan their trips, take regular breaks and ensure all passengers are properly restrained,” he said.
Police had issued 2668 speeding fines and caught 88 drink drivers statewide in the first two days of Operation Go Slow.
In other traffic incidents, a mountain bike rider has been flown to hospital after crashing at Falls Creek on Sunday morning.
The man, aged in his 30s, received hip and abdominal injuries after the incident about 10.15am at Road 24 and Bogong High Plains Road.
He was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
SES volunteers have been busy rescuing riders in the region in recent days.
A man had to be stretchered out of a bike track after a fall from a jump.
A second rider broke four ribs and had shoulder damage in a separate incident.
