A 79-year-old woman was arrested and charged on Thursday with perverting the course of justice and incitement to commit murder.
Homicide Squad detectives returned to the region on Thursday and were searching an area near Standish Street in Myrtleford with SES volunteers.
The road is near where Ms Chetcuti Verbunt's burnt-out car was discovered in the days before her burnt body was found at Lake Buffalo.
Her neighbour, Michael Cardamone, 50, allegedly drugged, bound and assaulted the mother-of-two before setting her on fire in January 2016.
A March court hearing was told the Whorouly woman died of blunt force trauma and from being burnt alive.
Victoria Police have announced Cardamone was charged on Wednesday with perverting the course of justice and incitement to commit murder.
Cardamone will face trial from July 31 in Wangaratta.
The 79-year-old woman will front the Wangaratta Magistrates Court on Friday after being remanded in custody.
