Albury-Wodonga pool facility on Gateway Island remains a long shot
The option of revisiting a regional aquatics facility on Gateway Island jointly bankrolled in part by Albury and Wodonga councils and the NSW and Victorian governments has had a lukewarm response. More here
$100m from federal budget for North-East rail line has been delayed
The federal government wants Victoria to pay for part of the North-East rail line upgrade and a stalemate in negotiations has held up planning the project. Mike Mrdak said he did not have details of how the $100 million allocated in the federal budget would be spent to upgrade the rail line. More here
Albury Council votes to extend Cleanaway's interim waste collection
Cleanaway has been granted an extension to the interim organic waste collection service in four local council areas until the fate of a bid to build a composting facility on the outskirts of Howlong is known. More here
Rolling canvas helping vulnerable kids speak up through the arts
When Derek Percival and James Glover decided to purchase an old Massey Ferguson tractor, they were only half-serious about seeing how far down the Hume Highway they could get it. What they didn’t predict was the tractor becoming a rolling canvas for children in need on a 10-day trip from Newcastle to Melbourne. More here

Emma Banks is missing a big chunk of her brain. A stroke she suffered before she was born left a large fluid-filled cyst where part of her brain was supposed to be.
Not that you’d know it to look at her.
The gregarious two-year-old has hit all her milestones except one – she’s yet to walk unaided, but is almost there. Read more
