One homeless Albury teenager who spoke out on the issue said this could be eased if there were “more people in society who want to listen”.
“When I walk down the street there’s a lot of people who don’t take the youth society as something,” she said.
“They take it just as ‘they’re there to make bad decisions’. But by steering the young people on the right track it makes me feel like that’s going to change their view on what young people think.”
Another homeless young woman said the everyday life skills learnt at one agency “was kind of the foundation on which I rebuilt my life. I had something that was consistent. That helped me put things into place.”
