Walker, a year 8 Catholic College student, shot two-under par in the School Sport Victoria Junior Secondary Schools Final to finish runner-up in a field of 80.
Connor Flavell, of Wodonga, Wangaratta’s Rhys Rigoni and Yarrawonga trio Baxter Droop, Ben Casley and Oliver Ridley also competed in the 18-hole final on May 26.
Winner Levi Sclater, representing Sale College, shot 66 to prevail by four strokes.
Walker, a member of Wodonga and Howlong golf clubs, presently plays off three, although he has been a one-handicapper.
His father Michael said the teenager’s round at Gardiners Run was a mixed one.
“He was two-under after the first three holes, then he dropped a shot and got one back, dropped a shot and got one back,” Mr Walker said.
The following two days Walker also contested the final rounds of the Howlong club championships, finishing men’s runner-up.
