Marty Corboy (Nationals Indi federal electoral council chairman) and Indigo Council mayor Jenny O’Connor (who contested the seat of Indi as a Greens candidate at the last federal election) teamed up at the annual Winery Walkabout pollie grape stop.
They came last.
“There’s be no more coalitions with the Greens, it was bad news. They don’t deliver,” a defeated Mr Corboy joked after the Sunday afternoon contest.
The Benalla-raised Labor member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes won the stomp with Rutherglen Apex Club’s Kent Williams, producing 2.9 litres of grape juice in three minutes.
“I’ve crushed some grapes, now it’s time to drink some,” Ms Symes said after he win.
For the second successive year the independent member for Indi Cathy McGowan finished a narrow second, producing 2.8 litres with Apex president Jamie Cooper.
Rutherglen chemist Mark Donaldson won the festival’s annual barrel race.
