The 69-year-old Culcairn man overtook a heavy vehicle with a wide load and a learner driver in one manoeuvre on a left-hand bend about 1pm Saturday.
This caused a ute travelling the opposite way to break and pull left off the road to avoid a head-on crash.
The man was issued with a court attendance notice for dangerous driving.
He will appear at Holbrook court on July 5 after police said he agreed that his driving was dangerous.
Anyone who witness the incident is asked to contact Albury police on (02) 6023 9299.
