Michell Wool’s global connections comprise a unique offering that no other broker can match, according to chief executive officer Steven Read.
Michell Wool’s processing facilities in Salisbury, South Australia, make it the only combination broker, buyer and processor left in Australia.
A South Australian family-owned business since 1870, Michell Wool also has a mill in Suzhuo, China and is the biggest carboniser in the southern hemisphere. Michell Wool offer a Melbourne auction catalogue.
“Our clients have access to the broadest range of marketing options and in-depth market intelligence on wool demand through our global and agent network,” said Michell Wool chief executive officer Steven Read.
Local representatives Bernie Lee and Gordon Pollock are pleased to discuss with growers Michell marketing options. With wool buying depots throughout South Australia and their expansion to 22-24 Headerworld Avenue, Corowa, Michell show continued confidence in the wool industry.
“Our network of depots is part of our overall strategy of working direct with farmers," Mr Read said.
"We already buy one in four bales of oddments in Australia, but we would rather buy direct from growers and pass on the savings to them. It is a mutually beneficial arrangement; growers achieve better returns and Michell gets continuity of supply for our global client base.”
