Indigo Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Advisory Committee embarked on an investigation into the booking system and has recommended councillors confirm their commitment to its continuation, helping businesses to use it and improve their bookings.
They will make an in-principle decision at Tuesday’s meeting before the report goes out for public comment.
“The committee see no advantage in changing to a different council booking platform – Bookeasy or other – the functionality of any of these systems is adequate for the very limited role that council plays in the online booking space,” the report by corporate services director Greg Pinkerton said.
“Some improvements/enhancements are needed with the current booking platform to provide an enhanced customer experience.”
His report also recommended visitor information centres continue to play an “important role” in accommodation bookings, but left the details for a later time.
The council meeting will be held at the council chambers in Beechworth from 6.30pm Tuesday.
