Kane Corben, 22, smirked in Albury Local Court on Tuesday and stood up, pumping his fist in the air, when the sentence was handed down.
The Wodonga teenager and his mate Jaydon Mark Doran, also known as Jaydon Moon, targeted the policeman at the BP on Thurgoona Drive on March 23.
The officer spotted Corben’s black Volkswagen driving into the service station without number plates and started filming.
After pumping fuel into the car, Corben drove at the officer, causing him to move sideways.
He reversed back, lined up the officer and drove towards him, swerving at him as he tried to avoid being hit.
The vehicle missed him by centimetres and Corben again tried to run him down.
Corben was already banned from driving until January 17, 2115, and will not be able to apply for a licence until he’s 120.
The pair were in a different car, which had been stolen from Wodonga, only a few hours later, and used it in a ram raid at the Thurgoona Golf Club.
Both men have been ordered to serve at least nine months in jail by magistrate Tony Murray.
Mr Murray said their problems stemmed from drug addictions, with Corben first using methamphetamine when he was primary school age.
Mr Murray described his history as “tragic” and warned he was “destined to repeat the sins of your past” if he didn’t stop his drug use.
He will miss the birth of his child in October, as he won’t be eligible for parole until two days before Christmas.
Corben and Doran will have to pay $15,605 in compensation to the golf club.
