Grace Senior posted an incredible 59 goals in the 72-32 hiding.
It was as lopsided as a battle of teams three and four could be, although the Tigers were missing coach Olivia Aughton (friend’s wedding) and Gabe McRae with a broken toe.
Aughton was still confident of a strong showing, but the Hoppers blew the match open with an 11-goal break at quarter-time.
Senior was outstanding for the home team, while Nakita Singe and Elyse Boyer also played well.
The Tigers were best served by Brooke Bice and Justine Willis.
Albury still retains a game-break on fifth placed Wangaratta.
And the Pies showed their class by pushing Yarrawonga, 57-50.
Coach Kelly Keen and Chaye Crimmins tried hard for the home outfit, while Amanda Umanski pushed past 250 goals with 33.
But Bridget Cassar landed 39 with Toni Wilson medallist Hannah Symes continuing her strong form.
Elsewhere, Wodonga Raiders scored a 52-43 win over arch-rival Wodonga.
“It was a good win, we probably let it slip a little in that last quarter but, overall, the girls played a great game for the first three quarters,” coach Alison Leech said.
“Everybody did their little bit, which contributed to intercepts down court, it was just the pressure which was applied on the ball.”
Raiders had a 14-goal lead at half-time, but a 17-goal final term by Wodonga pushed the margin back inside singles figures.
Lilly Smith and Courtney Hillier played well for the victors, while Leech (27 goals) and Alyce Gardiner (20) proved difficult to stop for the youthful home side.
The classy Sarah Thomas was the pick of Wodonga.
Lavington remains undefeated after thrashing the winless Myrtleford, 62-28.
The visitors’ Alison Meani snared 26 goals, while Sarah Senini grabbed 24.
Skye Hillier made her return, landing 12 and it’s that three-pronged attack which is proving difficult for teams to counter.
Ainslee O’Connell and Senini were terrific for the Panthers, while Sally Botter and Grace Taberner played well for the Saints.
Amie Antonello also did well to score 33 goals in a losing team.
And Corowa-Rutherglen has kept its finals hopes alive in toppling Wangaratta Rovers, 49-37.
Sophie Hanrahan raced past the 400-goal mark after scoring 35.
Hanrahan is the league’s leading scorer with 418.
Georgie Schulz and Georgie-Anne Bruce performed well for the Roos, while Rovers were best served by Ashlee Martin.
