One hundred images of so-called “mosquito buildings” around the Asian country have been donated to Albury’s MAMA gallery and form the basis for Mirage: Disused Public Property in Taiwan opening tonight.
Taiwanese lensman Yao Jui-Chung has driven the project, urging his students to capture sites that are abandoned when funds dry up.
“These kinds of buildings are called mosquito buildings because only mosquitoes end up flying in very happy,” Mr Yao said.
MAMA curator Michael Moran said Border photographers were being asked to snap works to complement the Taiwanese pieces.
