The Tigers’ spearhead has kicked 56 goals in only six games.
He needs to average seven-and-a-half in the last six to crack the ton.
Thirty-four players said he will kick a century in the home and away season, while 16 disagreed.
The Tigers have only one of the bottom three – Wangaratta Rovers – in round 17, with the rest finals contenders.
Mellington claimed last year’s Doug Strang Medal with 113 goals from 20 games.
“I’d say Josh is probably in better form this year,” Tigers’ co-coach Shaun Daly said.
“I love guys kicking goals, but I actually think his forward 50 (metre) pressure’s been a lot better, just when the ball’s hitting the ground.”
But Daly says the club won’t be focused on the ton.
“I’d rather the four points than 100 goals,” he said.
