Burgess started with Wodonga’s reserves in 1993, so he’s racked up 25 seasons of either direct coaching or some involvement.
“I’m still obviously motivated by the ingredients that you get out of coaching,” he said.
“Probably like Paul Roos, you never say never as you never know what happens down the track.”
The 55-year-old has the league’s toughest job, but he’s highly respected, gaining a handful of votes in a recent player poll for the best coach.
“There’s obviously some things that you’d like to be able to do and probably would have liked to do better, but you need to coach for the club and the moment in terms of what you are dealing with,” he said.
“With so many young guys there and who they are in their footy careers and development, we had to manage the coaching to that level.”
