The Hoppers’ star was tackled by the Roos’ Jay O’Donoghue near the boundary during the third quarter at Corowa’s John Foord Oval on Saturday.
It’s understood there’s no footage of the alleged incident.
A melee developed, involving a host of players, while O’Donoghue’s father, Mark, jumped the fence and was within metres of the action.
There is no suggestion Mark, a Roos’ premiership player, touched any player.
The investigation will only cover the players.
“From our end the league doesn’t tolerate any anti-social commentary or behaviour during the game,” O and M general manager Sean Barrett said.
“Spectators are not to enter the field of play during the game.
“Certainly that action’s not acceptable, under any circumstances, from the league’s perspective.
“The league has requested Corowa-Rutherglen take appropriate action to address that.”
The Roos were scheduled to discuss the issue on Thursday night.
“We only found out about it yesterday (Wednesday), so we’ll look over it tonight (Thursday),” president Graham Hosier said.
It’s the second time this season the Roos have asked the league to investigate an incident involving Leslie.
However, it was decided the Hoppers’ star did not have a case to answer.
The current probe was launched on Wednesday, so the investigation officer has 10 days to conduct the inquiry.
The official can then request a 10-day extension, if required.
Leslie is free to play against Lavington on Saturday and if he plays the final four matches, he will be one game short of league and club Hall of Famer Stan Sargeant’s 289-game record.
