FEDERAL kicked the final two goals of the match to edge out winless Tumbarumba by eight points at Tumbarumba on Saturday.

With its home final aspirations on the line, the visitors escaped the upset of the season when Tom McKimmie and Tim Seymour kicked truly in the dying minutes.
“Tumbarumba played well and we didn’t,” Swan coach Gerard Midson said.
“I was worried going up there.
“Saying that I would much rather have a tight game heading into the finals than winning by 25 goals.
“Our good players stood up at important stages.”
Mitch Paton, Seymour and Dylan Haycraft impressed for Federal while Jake Peters came through his first match since round seven unscathed.
Tumbarumba went goal-for-goal with Federal with Thomas Bennetts never far away from the action.
Federal take on Border-Walwa this weekend and back up the following Saturday in the first semi-final.
Corryong accounted for Border-Walwa by 66 points.
The Demons were set alight by Kyle and Matt McNamara with support coming from Mitch Harris and David Low.
Jarrod Williams was paid close attention by Isaac Warren before the former Barnawartha star was moved to the midfield and finished with eight goals.
Williams has kicked 84 goals in 13 matches this season.
Border-Walwa coach Craig Bosley was satisfied with the performance.
“I was reasonably happy,” Bosley said.
“We were competitive for large periods of the match and I looked at the bench after the game and we had no injuries which is important at this stage of the season.
“It wasn’t a bad effort.”
Youngster Max Houston was outstanding for the Magpies, with Matt Storey and Dan Leeworthy also turning in solid performances.
A sidelight of the match was the clash between brothers Jamie and Dan McCarthy.
“They didn’t hold back,” Bosley said.
“At one stage they were kicking it back and forwards to each other.”
Bullioh crushed Cudgewa by 141 points.
Led by league medal contender Hamish Clark, the Bulldogs kicked 11.3 to 0.3 in the third quarter to race away with the match.
Ben Parker and Ben Commins were also prominent.
Cudgewa were served by big James Cleven, Jackson Brown and David Jackson.
