The grant allowed the students to acquire a drone with a camera, which they have been using to explore their surroundings from high above – weather permitting.
“It's a really cool piece of technology, it's been really good to have it in the classroom,” year eight student Adam Lippiatt said.
“I was a bit worried about using it for the first time but it was easy, it's good to have for our technology classes.”
Aspect teacher Lucy Labram said the drone had been a unique addition to the classroom.
“It's a great, non-threatening way for them to explore their environment and visualise the landscape around them,” she said.
“The students are so skilled with technology, they’ve worked out how to use it really quickly.
“We're going to use it in a lot of other subjects as well – arts, science, geography, we can really use it across the board, it really adds a lot to our classroom.”
