“Probably a little bit and it’s only purely the way he’s gone about it,” Doswell said.
“Obviously I respect the way he plays and the way he goes about everything else, just the way it was handled, I probably lose a bit of respect.
“I think there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it, announcing it three days after our season’s done and before Raiders have finished, is the wrong way to do it.”
But Raiders’ coach Daryn Cresswell says Hodgkin wanted to tell the Bulldogs, out of respect.
Announcing it three days after our season’s done and before Raiders have finished, is the wrong way.

“He told (new coach) Zac (Fulford) before the last game and that was out of respect for Zac,” he said.
“I said to Jarrod, ‘are you sure you want to do this’? He said, ‘I’ve got a lot of respect for ‘Fully’ and I want to be upfront and honest, I don’t want to be hiding anything from him’.
“We could have kept this out (of the public) for another six weeks, we didn’t want to announce it and really, he just wanted to be honest.”
The Border Mail spoke with Hodgkin on Thursday, but he didn’t want to comment at this stage.
Interestingly, the Bulldogs have yet to host their best and fairest function, with the hard-working midfielder the red-hot favourite.
Hodgkin will be Raiders’ assistant coach next year, before taking the top job when Cresswell steps down.
“He was a big part of our future and if that was something he wanted to do, I’m quite certain the club would have given him every opportunity, whether it be as an assistant coach to start off, but to just come out after the season’s finished and before talking to anyone and say he’s gone, it’s a hard thing to take,” Doswell said.
The 25-year-old will almost certainly cost Raiders the maximum six points.
Hodgkin incurs two for an internal move and another for a top five best and fairest.
