That came after Kate Eileen Mildren’s appearance in Albury Local Court via a video link to Bathurst jail on Tuesday.
Mildren was convicted on two separate incidents of driving while disqualified that occurred within a week.
What made her offending more significant was her criminal history – this is not her first stint behind bars, the 25-year-old having become a regular before the courts in both NSW and Victoria.
Defence solicitor Camille McKay said these were mainly for dishonesty and drug offences but not traffic.
Nevertheless, Mildren fronted Wodonga court in 2016 when she was convicted on a charge of drive furiously or recklessly at a speed dangerous.
Ms McKay asked magistrate Tony Murray to consider giving Mildren a longer period on parole given she had responded well to post-jail supervision in the past.
Mildren pleaded guilty to two second offence counts of driving while disqualified, travelling at more than 20km/h above the speed limit and failing to follow police directions.
The first incident was on June 30 when Mildren was seen driving along Calimo Street, North Albury, about 11.20am. Police suspected Mildren did not have a licence and so pulled her over.
She was disqualified from driving until July 6, 2018.
And then on July 5 police saw Mildren heading towards them in Kaitlers Road, Lavington, and realised it was the same woman they had previously charged. They did a U-turn and followed her car, which accelerated away before slowing for a red light at Kemp Street.
When this light turned green, Mildren turned right and “accelerated harshly and swerved onto the incorrect side of the road” and overtook the vehicle in front, reaching speeds of up to 95km/h.
Mildren was sentenced to seven months’ jail with a minimum of three, meaning a release date of November 29.
She was disqualified from obtaining a licence for a further three years.
