The Twin Cities’ councils are combining to seek joint expressions of interest in administering the four pools owned by the public.
They are Albury, Lavington, WAVES and the Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre.
Albury mayor Kevin Mack and his Wodonga counterpart Anna Speedie have trumpeted the deal as a good example of cross border co-operation.
“It’s a great example of how both cities can work together to benefit everyone in Albury-Wodonga,” Cr Mack said.
“We’ve always been two cities but one community and this agreement really shows what we can achieve if we work together to improve services to our residents.”
Cr Speedie added: “We know the Border is not a barrier for our people to use and enjoy services across our cities and it’s important that we continue to look for ways to collaborate to ensure quality outcomes.”
The joint management deal will apply from July 1 next year.
