Tigers’ stars Daniel Cross (calf) and Luke Packer (hamstring) are racing to be fit for Saturday’s grand final against Wangaratta at the Lavington Sportsground.
Classy Albury midfielder Elliott Powell went into last year’s decider against Lavington with a foot injury, but it’s the first time the Tigers will have two of their best in doubt.
“Yeah it is, it’s a little bit different, especially Luke Packer who’s played in every grand final since 2009,” co-coach Joel Mackie said.
“They’re (Cross and Packer) 50/50 to be honest at the moment, they’ll both go through a fitness test tomorrow night (Thursday).
“If they’re not right, we won’t risk it, it’s too big a game.”
Calf and hamstring injuries are generally considered three-week issues, so the pair will do well to play after only suffering the complaints on September 9.
