Year 5 student Scarlet Galvin, representing MacKillop for the southern half of NSW Catholic schools, won the junior girls high jump state championship at the NSW Primary School Sports Association (PSSA) carnival at Sydney Olympic Park.
Galvin got past 41 other girls, with her final jump of 1.36 metres a personal best.
She now gets to represent NSW PSSA at the Pacific School Games in Adelaide in December.
St Patrick’s Holbrook principal Rob Unsworth said the whole school and indeed the whole Holbrook community are very proud of Scarlet’s achievements.
“I suspect that while this is Scarlet's first taste of international competition, it will not be her last,” Unsworth said.
The Pacific School Games will host around 4000 students across 11 different sports from at least 15 countries, including every Australian state and territory.
It’s the first time St Patrick’s has had a student reach the event.
