The club has made an instant impact after moving from Wangaratta and District and will meet another undefeated outfit in Yackandandah.
“I knew most of the kids I was playing 16s against and then going up into A and B grade and playing against them as well,” opening bowler Brady Bartlett said.
“The teams so far have had some really good cricketers and if you compare them with some of the ones in Wangaratta, I think they’d go pretty decent against the other.”
Corowa toppled Eskdale in the opening round and then topped 200 runs against Baranduda with Nathan Rhodes and Jarred Lane posting half-centuries.
Bartlett then ripped through the visitors, snaring 3-18.
He’s the leading wicket-taker with seven wickets at 4.71.
It’s been a meteoric start against the new faces.
“I don’t know anything about the Yackandandah players,” he said.
“We take training pretty seriously so we just try to bat, bowl and field as we would in a game and we try to put a price on our wicket.”
It’s a busy time for the right-arm pace bowler, as he starts his VCE exams next week.
Meanwhile, the association’s other new outfit in Lavington will also look to continue its winning start.
The Panthers travel to Kiewa, with last season’s runner-up yet to post a win.
Kiewa lost five grand final players, including its three leading run-scorers in Sean Taylor, Jacob Barber and Connor Davis.
Lavington started the season with provincial grand final players Brad Dalbosco and Michael Galvin, so the new club’s depth will stretch most teams.
The home side will certainly start outsiders to halt the Panthers’ winning run.
Wodonga is the other undefeated team.
Eskdale has played only the one game and will be out to grab its first win at home.
But Wodonga has two sons of guns in the top three with the ball.
Elijah Hollands sits second with six wickets at 4.83, conceding a misery 1.89 runs per over, while Charlie Jackson also has six wickets, at just over seven apiece.
Jackson’s father Robbie is the club coach at provincial level, while Ben Hollands played AFL with Richmond.
Mount Beauty will host another team with a split record.
The Power and Dederang have a win each after the opening two games.
But it’s a different story for Bethanga and Howlong.
Both teams are winless, although Bethanga has played just the one match.
Howlong will look to post a strong total after 9-86 and 103 in the losses to Wodonga and Lavington respectively.
