The Albury-Wodonga Steamers are the latest group to join in the campaign for the disability support service to be able to renovate its new headquarters.
The rugby union club has agreed to let volunteers from Cooinda man the gates at its home matches and keep half of the takings.
Club secretary Justin Clancy said a similar arrangement was made for just one match last year with Cooinda making several hundred dollars.
“We feel a responsibility as a community group to help support other community groups,” he said.
“We have an association with Cooinda through (Steamers vice-president) Terry O’Riain and we felt Cooinda was such a fantastic organisation.
Cooinda committee president Lizzie Pogson said teaming up with the sports club also encouraged families to become more involved in the community.
Cooinda was this week granted $50,000 from the NSW Government, taking its public appeal to almost $100,000.
Ms Pogson said the response to the appeal had been “incredible” and “heart-warming”, with pledges and donations flooding in since the appeal was launched last month.
“We appreciate every contribution regardless of how big or small and we thank every person who has thought of us and taken the time to ring.
The Steamers take on Rivcall at their homeground, Murrayfield Oval, from 11am today.
