NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Roads Minister Melinda Pavey and Member for Albury Greg Aplin opened the $6.5 million second stage, Lake Hume Village to Bethanga Bridge, yesterday.
Mr Aplin said the project exceeded expectations.
“This is a safe corridor constructed under difficult circumstances between a cliff face and a sharp drop-off to the lake,” he said.
Albury couple Jim and Janette Kettyle, who have driven this road regularly for many years, welcomed the improvements.
“This section, it was nasty, nasty,” Mr Kettyle said.
“How they’ve handled it and done the work, it’s a credit. It’s good to see it happening on your doorstep.”
