The visitors won three of the four rinks to climb into second spot with only one round remaining before the Christmas break.
Skip Col Hendren was the big mover.
He trailed Josh Rudd by one shot at tea but motored home in the dying ends to claim a decisive 39-20 victory.
Dawn Hayman, who has lost only once this season, accounted for Paul Davies 29-20 and Max Scanlan finished well to defeat Peter McLarty 24-14.
Wodonga scored its only win when young gun Kylie Whitehead edged out Thomas Webb 21-20.
Hendren said it was a strong all-round performance.
“It was tight in a couple of the rinks at tea but we finished off really well,” he said.
“Dawn had another good win as well.
“We’re in a pretty good position with the break coming up.”
Corowa Civic and Benalla share top position on the ladder with Wodonga dropping to third spot after dropping its second match of the season.
Fourth-placed YMGCR defeated Rutherglen 125-83.
The victory was set up on the back of Garry Sanders’ 37-22 win over Russell Towner and James Lefevre’s 35-19 success over Bill Campbell.
The remaining two rinks were tight with Rod Jones edging out Edwyn Rankin 32-27 and Ray Irvine and Chris Langdon playing a 21-all draw.
Wangaratta’s finals prospects took a hit when it went down to Benalla 108-76 at Wangaratta.
Although the home team won two of the four rinks, the damage was done with Chris Cooney defeating Greg McDonald 36-9.
Shawn McMahon upstaged Trevor Selwood 27-15.
Wangaratta, who is now 28 points outside the top four, walked away with four points thanks to Maurie Braden defeating Matt Robertson 28-23 and Ian Brimblecombe edging out Bob Mitchell 24-22.
Yarrawonga defeated Kiewa Valley 92-78.
With two or less shots separating three rinks, the home team relied on Melissa Roberts’ 33-15 win over Rob Bartel to secure victory.
The ladder is: Benalla 106, Corowa Civic 106, Wodonga 95, YMGCR 86, Wangaratta 58, Yarrawonga 55, Kiewa Valley 52, Rutherglen 52.
