Police have now been issued an arrest warrant to get Daniel Raymond Furner to do what he was supposed to do on Friday.
Furner was to have been sentenced on charges of larceny and destroy or damage property, but there was no response when his name was called outside Albury Local Court.
The 31-year-old was on bail, something he has shown scant regard for in the past.
Police told magistrate Rodney Brender that Furner, who now lived in the Geelong suburb of Belmont, had breached bail seven times and had had five warrants issued for his arrest.
“The accused has a significant criminal history in NSW and he’s been found guilty of and given custodial sentences for numerous property-related offences.”
In 2009, Furner’s father sold his car for scrap, such was his concern for his son’s continued law-breaking.
At the time Furner was jailed for five months on charges of disqualified driving, dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs, having previously been given a 12-month term for disqualified driving.
In April of 2011, Furner snatched a bag from a woman with a three-year-old child at an Albury underground car park, but was grabbed after a chase by nearby shoppers.
Furner pleaded guilty to the latest offences from January 25, which related to him stealing a phone put down on a shop table by a Vodafone Albury employee.
The victim locked his phone when he realised it was missing, then used GPS software to track Furner around central Albury.
Furner was arrested after throwing away the phone in Albury’s botanic gardens, breaking the device.
