Henty showgirl, Emily Jones, 18, and Finley showgirl, Maicie Close, 20, will represent Zone 7 at the Sydney Royal Showgirl competition this Easter.
Two young women won the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW Zone 7 region level judging against 14 other contestants, all representing their local show societies.
Miss Close is studying early childhood care and her ambitions include becoming a pre-school/childcare director, as well as teaching in African villages. She is also the Riverina Bluebell Ball president, which last year raised $18,500 in support of mental health awareness.
Miss Jones, 18, is a library and youth trainee working in customer service and is also completing her final HSC subject through the School Pathways Program.
She is also on the Greater Hume Shire Youth Advisory Committee.
The presentation was held at Hay Services Club and hosted by the Hay Show Society, with Felicity Maynard, Hay, as the Zone Showgirl finals co-ordinator.
The judges included the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW vice president, Tim Capp, Gresford, former Showgirl and ASC Next Gen president, Hannah Barber, Parkes, and The Land’s editor, Andrew Norris.
