Detective Sergeant Graeme Simpfendorfer said an 18-year-old had been charged with theft after an incident at Wodonga plaza on Thursday.
“About midday a member of the public has observed three young males in Wodonga Plaza acting suspicious and we allege one of the males removed an item of clothing and left without paying,” he said.
“That member of the public has confronted them and there’s been a confrontation, it was over in a number of seconds.
“That’s still under investigation and we need witnesses to exactly what took place.”
The 18-year-old was arrested in front of Aldi soon after the alleged theft at the plaza and will face Wodonga Magistrates Court on April 24.
