Only months after the Border Bullets were humiliated by the Wagga Sloggers, Holbrook produced a sensational performance to upset Wagga by three wickets in the O’Farrell Cup at Robertson Oval on Sunday.
It will be the first time Holbrook has held the cup over winter.
Set a target of 9-215, the visitors’ Andrew Mackinlay (56) and Nick Perryman (48 not out) set about the chase superbly to reel in the score with 10 balls to spare.
It is believed to be association’s highest O’Farrell Cup score.
“It’s pretty special to hold the cup over winter,” skipper Darren Howard said.
“We put our hand up to challenge every year and probably the last two years against West Wyalong and Temora we should have got over the line but didn’t so it’s a bit of reward.
“It’s fantastic.”
