ALBURY’S Mark Shanahan and Jade Culph have fallen agonisingly short of victory in the men’s doubles at the Wodonga Labour Day tournament.
After almost two hours, the leading Border pair went down to David Bulbulian and Josh Charlton 3-6 6-3 10-6.
“We probably should have won it after being up in the super tiebreaker,” Shanahan said.
“It wasn’t my day for tiebreakers.”
Earlier in the day, Shanahan bowed out of the singles in the semi-finals with a 6-0 6-7 10-7 loss to Glen Dawes.
Dawes lost to J.O. Tallman in the final 6-2 6-3.
In the women’s singles, Brooke Starling accounted for Leah Williamson 6-4 6-4.
Albury’s Rory Parnell teamed with Charlie Camus to win the 12 and under doubles against Maita and Mudiwa Munyimani 6-3 6-1.
Parnell lost to Camus in the singles final 6-3 6-2.
Lachie Graetz and Daniel Smith went down in the 16 and under doubles final.
