Firefighters were called to the Redlands Road home about 2.45pm.
NSW Fire Brigade Corowa station commander Lindsay Bush said the brick veneer house was well alight.
“It took almost 40 minutes to control the fire with a pumper and tanker and 14 firefighters,” he said.
“About 70 per cent of the home has been damaged and the crews did a great job to limit the damage to that.
“No one was home at the time and it was a well-cared for home.”
Mr Bush said fire investigators were expected to be on the scene last night.
Insp Richard Harvey of Albury police said the fire was not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
