HCF Albury will host the Victor Chang heart health checks for members with extras from May 2-4.
Since the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute launched its health check booths in 2010, its nurses have tested 55,000 people across Australia.
HCF Albury customer service manager Pamela McGrath said the initiative always received an excellent response from members, with the nurses kept busy.
“It generates a lot of conversation,” she said.
“It’s amazing how many people are not aware that they’ve got high cholesterol or that something might be a little bit amiss.”
In the past, nurses have recommended about 38 per cent of tested members visit a GP for further assessment and health management.
For good heart health, the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute advises people to eat a well-balanced diet, cut down on salt, exercise at least 30 minutes a day, curb their alcohol intake and quit smoking.
