Councillor John Watson said the awards were now in their 10th year and nominations for 2018 close on June 1.
“Young people do get a bad rap,” he said.
“The awards are to celebrate the youth of our community and city in areas they are excelling or working.”
Cr Watson said a new logo was unveiled that would see the awards carry into the future.
He congratulated the seven young organisers who run the event, with support from Wodonga Council’s youth services and events officer.
The nine 2018 categories are the individual community service award, the sport and recreation volunteer award, the young carer award, the apprenticeship or traineeship award, the endurance or persistence award, the advocacy and action award, the performing arts award, the visual arts and media award and the youth ambassador award.
