The first man, charged with firearms offences, was ordered to donate $1000 to the Mansfield Hospital and to forfeit his rifle.
A second man, charged with dog and firearms offences, must donate $500 to Mansfield Hospital and pay costs of $230.
Parks Victoria regional enforcement coordinator Martin Downs said the men were caught as part of a larger group during a targeted enforcement operation run by Parks Victoria, Game Management Authority (GMA) and Victoria Police in July 2017.
“Illegal hunting can damage native flora and fauna and ruins the experience of visiting a park for other visitors,” he said
“The penalties received underline the importance of only taking hounds and firearms into designated areas. Hounds must also not be allowed to stray outside designated areas.
“Hunters should familiarise themselves with the regulations that apply to the park they intend hunting in, and ensure they hunt legally.”
