Pawlik, who started the campaign with Wangaratta, crossed to Myrtleford and was showing plenty of promise before hurting his knee in the club’s 2-1 win against Wodonga Diamonds last weekend.
Savoy defender Jesse Stephens is hoping for the best, but feels it could sideline the midfielder for some time.
“It could be ligament damage, so he’ll be out for nearly the whole season,” Stephens said.
“He went for the ball, missed it and had a big lunge and twisted it.
“There’s definitely quite a bit of damage done.”
Pawlik has been regarded as one of the region’s most promising young talents.
He was the winner of Murray United’s under 20s best and fairest and players’ player awards last season, as well as making four appearances for the senior side.
Myrtleford travels to face Melrose on Sunday at 3pm.
