Mark Dando, City of Albury RSL sub branch, urged younger veterans to contact their local branch if they needed assistance.
“The biggest problem that I see we face as a nation is our young soldiers, sailors and airmen coming home and we’ve had more commit suicide than we’ve had deaths in Afghanistan,” he said.
“It’s one thing that should never be forgotten and it’s one that the RSL should be there, and we need to be there, for any young service person or any family of a young service person.
“We have been to a conflict and we will give them the time of day and look after them as best we can or at least give them guidance as to where they can go to get help.”
