The Albury hospital’s event saw the allied health morning tea, a 10-year tradition organised by physiotherapist Alana Wilson, join up with medical students keen to support the Cancer Council fundraiser.
“We wanted to make sure we weren’t running a double-up so we combined the event to make it a bit bigger,” final year medical student Maddi Bullock said.
“We had lots of generous donations of cakes so there was plenty to sell.”
Miss Bullock said the morning tea, held in the allied health courtyard, attracted 20 to 30 staff members, students and patients.
“Then we popped all the cakes on a trolley afterwards and went through the wards for all the staff and patients that couldn’t make it to the actual morning tea itself,” she said.
“And probably sold just as many cakes there.”
The day raised between $300 and $400, with the final figure yet to be tallied.
“We were really blown away,” Miss Bullock said.
“We could never have made that by ourselves.”
