The Ovens and Murray has been stopped by the Geelong juggernaut in the State Association Championships in Melbourne.
The O and M was undefeated in its four pool matches, but fell 14-10 in the semi-finals of the shortened format.
Geelong then trounced Bendigo in the final.
“I always say we’re successful if we can reach a semi-final down there,” O and M deputy chair Kim Odewahn said.
It completed a gruelling 24 hours for the team, which was backing up after club commitments on Saturday.
“The Lavington defenders (Rhiannon Dolahenty and Kate Yensch) played enormously well and Sophie Hanrahan, who’s been playing in defence this year for Corowa-Rutherglen, we played her in goal attack, she just did a power of work,” Odewahn said.
“And (shooter) Grace Senior is so calm, she’s going to be a star.”
Senior shot 58 from 73 attempts.
