Multiple studs converged on the Jerilderie Showgrounds to conduct a joint display of their flocks during day two.
These included East Loddon Merinos, Poll Boonoke Poll Merinos, Woodpark Poll, and more.
Woodpark stud principal Stephen Huggins, Hay, said while there wasn’t an abundance of visitors, the open day was a good opportunity for studs on display to network and benchmark their sheep.
“A lot of the closer studs had a big volume of sheep, 30 or 40 plus rams and young ewes, it was quite good to get a look at where they were all at,” Mr Huggins said.
Mr Huggins had a group of one year-old ewes out of the paddock, older sires, young rams, and his Sheepvention sale rams, on display.
He said visitors made the trek to from as far as Temora and Walbundrie.
He said it would have been hard to pick a better time to have an open day, given the strength of the sheep and wool industry.
“Wool is superb and sheep are selling incredibly well,” he said.
Day three saw studs across the Corowa and Howlong districts open their gates.
Sheep Week offers stud and commercial sheep operators the opportunity to peak over the fence at some of the country’s best sheep studs.
The event runs across nine days from June 18 to 27, with 58 studs opening their gates, in Victoria, NSW and South Australia.
