Ruth Silvester and Roger Reynoldson have nominated for a by-election being held on July 14 to fill the vacancy left by the death of Bernard Curtin on April 18.
Mrs Silverster, 68, is a registered nurse from Tocumwal whose focus is health.
If elected she would be the only woman on council after voters returned an all-male contingent in 2016.
Mr Reynoldson farms land six kilometres west of Berrigan on the Riverina Highway.
His great-grandfather John and father David previously served on the council.
“I thought I’m in a position (to stand), I’m 55 and if I don’t do it now then when am I going to do it?” Mr Reynoldson said.
He has been a director of Murray Irrigation and football and tennis club administrator.
