A MAN accused of stabbing his brother has refused to see a lawyer and will remain behind bars.

Billy Netherwood, 41, allegedly stabbed the 39-year-old at Elm Street in Wodonga early Tuesday morning.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said it appeared the man presented to Albury hospital with upper body injuries, which were reportedly inflicted across the border.
The man was in a stable condition following the incident.
Netherwood, who appeared before the Wodonga Magistrates Court in jeans and a jumper for a short hearing, did not apply for bail.
A police prosecutor said the 41-year-old had declined to speak to a lawyer before the matter was brought before the court.
“He’s not making any application for bail,” the leading senior constable said.
The court heard the matter would return for committal mention on October 4.
Police will serve a brief of evidence by August 23.
Magistrate John Murphy checked with Netherwood, who has been charged with intentionally and recklessly causing serious injury and assault with a weapon, if he wanted legal advice.
“Now I understand you don’t wish to have any legal representation?” the magistrate asked.
“Yes your honour,” Netherwood replied.
Mr Murphy asked why, and the accused man replied that he would represent himself.
“When the dust settles you may want to seek some legal advice,” the magistrate said.
Police said in a statement that nobody else was being sought.
The victim remains in a stable condition at Albury hospital.
