After recent rain, Kylie Esler was chasing the rainbow and found photographic gold in a friendly herd of cattle near Baranduda, basking in rare winter sunshine.
Unfortunately for border residents, of both the human and bovine variety, the return of blue skies is looking unlikely with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting overcast chilly days ahead.
Morning frost will open the weekend on Saturday morning, with temperatures across a dry weekend predicted to fluctuate between negative one and 13 degrees.
In the Alps temperatures will drop to minus six in Falls Creek on Saturday and Sunday, with a maximum temperature of one degree.
Mount Hotham won’t see any positive temperatures to open the weekend, with a high of minus one and a low of minus even predicted.
