Truck driver Aaron Bell struck Mrs Brown, 53, as she was crossing Ryley Street at traffic lights at the Warby Street intersection while walking her dog about 8am on January 16 last year.
Bell, 28, was shaking as he stood up in Wangaratta Magistrates Court in March to say he was guilty of the charge of dangerous driving cause death.
The court heard his truck was travelling at 17km/h around the corner, a route he drove every day to work at Wangaratta Hydraulics.
Barrister Diana Price said the only explanation for the crash was “momentary inattention”.
At a hearing earlier this month, Mrs Brown’s family spoke of their devastation.
“Bobbie was my life and she was gone in an instant – no goodbyes, no last words,” her husband said as he read his victim impact statement in court.
“Our bond was strong, but our love and respect for each other was stronger … I mourn her every day, the darkness remains.”
More to come.
