Lawrence Krause had planned on fighting the latest police allegations.
But after discussions between the police and his solicitor, Tim Hemsley, the 58-year-old process worker pleaded guilty in Albury Local Court today to a single count of possess child abuse material.
Mr Hemsley said the offending material did not involve images or depictions of real children but rather “fictional” stories that amounted to “fantasies”.
Krause, wearing a black suit and shirt as he did when convicted on his previous charges just over 18 months ago, was not evasive when detectives visited his house on February 22.
They were there regarding his obligations under the Child Protection (Offenders Registration) Act. The detectives, after being allowed inside, asked if he had any child abuse material
“The accused,” police said, “nominated a number of hard drives and thumb drives which he believed may contain child abuse material.”
Police seized a 500 gigabyte hard drive and a USB drive, as well as “a number” of other electronic storage devices that were reviewed that day.
“During this review, investigators located a number of folders containing stories relating to sexual activities between children and adults.”
In total there were 33 such stories, with the children depicted aged between 10 and 15 “and some involving rape and bondage scenarios”.
Krause was arrested the next morning, though when questioned said: “I have received legal advice and will not answer further questions.”
Krause will be sentenced on September 26.
