Not only have the kids provided friendly company, but they’ve made for great singing partners.
The initiative, facilitated by Breaking New Ground Learning and funded by Albury Council, saw choir director Catherine Cutler and musical accompanist Corinne Massang workshop pieces with the residents and year five and six students.
On Wednesday they presented their final show.
Lutheran Aged Care Albury volunteer co-ordinator Kerrie Warburton said the likes of Home Among the Gum Trees and Show Me the Way to Go Home had filled the halls of the facility on Stafford Road in Albury.
“The residents really enjoy having the students there and the quality of music was very good,” she said.
“The students had time to talk with the residents; they made name badges together and asked about where the residents went to school and what it was like for them growing up.
“They looked forward to the visits.”
